Subject : Column names do not display for Oracle 8 databases

Status: 3rd Party Fix Required

Some users with Oracle8 installations are reporting that column names do not display in ObjGen when connected to an Oracle database. We have investigated this report and have found that it is caused by a problem in some early versions of Oracle's 8.0 ODBC drivers.

Oracle has confirmed the problem as Bug # 545279. Oracle reports that the problem has been fixed in the Oracle8 ODBC driver as of version 8.0.3.0.1.

We recommend that our users running Oracle8 download the latest Oracle8 ODBC driver from the Oracle web site at the following URL:

The latest drivers listed by Oracle are:

• Version 8.0.5.7.0 for OCI 8.0.5.0.0 & Net 8 Client 8.0.5.0.0 (ODBC Version 3.0) - ora8057.exe (1.4MB)
• Version 8.0.5.6.0 for OCI 8.0.5.0.0 & Net 8 Client 8.0.5.0.0 (ODBC Version 3.0) for NT - ora8056.exe (1.6MB)
• Version 8.0.5.5 for OCI 8.0.5.0.0 & Net 8 Client 8.0.5.0.0 (ODBC Version 3.0) for NT - ora8055.exe (1.6MB)

Please review ALL the release notes and documentation included in each archive PRIOR to installing the updated drivers.
