ObjGen has been developed by Everett Ward Systems as a means to rapidly build database ready applications and data access objects. Developers can connect ObjGen to an existing relational database via ODBC and in minutes create a complete, ready to run application. Using ObjGen as the starting point for a new application, will dramatically reduce the time it takes to build typical database connected applications.

New in ObjGen 2.0 is the ability to generate applications and objects using pre-defined application frameworks and code templates.

ObjGen ships with complete application frameworks for generating Visual Basic 5.0 and 6.0 type applications with support for ADO, RDO or DAO database connectivity.

Our Visual Basic 5.0 and 6.0 code templates are generated using data class modules and starter forms that are 100% free of data bound controls. This allows developers greater control and flexibility to introduce and apply custom business rules and specialized processing.

Code templates for data access classes and forms come complete with code for error handling and logic to provide data browsing, insertions, updates and deletions saving weeks of grunt development time. The time and cost savings afforded by ObjGen when used during a typical application development project are significant and the software will pay for itself the first time used.

Both code templates and the resultant code can be edited by the user directly within ObjGen using an integrated code editor that is accessible for each object generated. Code templates can be changed and applied directly on a per object basis offering the user greater flexibility when building applications.

Included in ObjGen is an easy to use Auto-Build facility. Auto-Build frees the user from having to run the typical step by step creation wizards on the market today for each table in a database. The Auto-Build process saves the developer time and effort by letting the developer choose which database tables are to be used as a basis for objects in the target application in one simple step. Optionally, existing database structures can be analyzed for primary and foreign key relationships and corresponding master/detail forms are automatically created.

ObjGen includes support for Visual Basic 5.0 and 6.0 applications using ADO, RDO or DAO data access libraries against any relational database accessible via ODBC and operates on Windows 95, 98 and NT.

Custom frameworks and templates to support other languages
including Java (JFC/Swing, JDBC) and C++ are available.
